Cantando Si Impara
We couldn't be more delighted to introduce our brand-new course at The Dante Italian Language School in Vancouver. Get ready to embark on a thrilling learning adventure!
Cantando Si Impara, in English "By singing, one learns", is our new project designed for intermediate to advanced Italian learners who are interested in learning more about Italian culture and language through the lens of music.
What will you learn?
The course will begin with an overview of the most influential Italian authors and musicians, such, Fabrizio De Andrè, Domenico Modugno, Luigi Tenco, Lucio Battisti, and others. This will be an opportunity for students to explore the rich cultural heritage of Italy and gain insight into the connection between music and literature.
The course will then focus on the lyrics of popular Italian songs, analyzing them for their linguistic and cultural content. Participants will learn new vocabulary and grammar structures through exposure to authentic Italian texts.
In addition to analyzing song lyrics, the course will also provide opportunities for students to interpret and perform Italian songs themselves. This could involve singing, playing musical instruments, or simply reading aloud and discussing the meaning of the lyrics.
