The Advanced Italian Conversation course helps students refine their speaking skills, expand their vocabulary, and express themselves with greater precision in Italian. Through in-depth discussions, cultural topics, and authentic materials, students develop their fluency while practicing natural, nuanced, and effective communication.

Course Description
The Advanced Conversation course is designed to help students refine their speaking skills and communicate with greater confidence and sophistication in Italian. Through in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including Italian culture, current events, history, art, literature, and society, students expand their vocabulary and develop their ability to express complex ideas, opinions, and perspectives. A variety of authentic resources is used to stimulate conversation, including articles, videos, podcasts, films, and other real-life materials. Students explore different linguistic registers while improving their fluency, accuracy, and natural communication skills. Grammar review is not the main focus, but it is addressed when needed to support students’ progress and respond to specific language needs.

Paola Marchegiani
Born in Pescara and raised in Bologna, this teacher holds a degree in Biological Science. After working in IT, they moved to Calgary, earned a Teaching Assistant Certificate, and rediscovered their passion for teaching Italian. They now teach at the Dante Alighieri Society of BC.
